The Lilac Garden at Duniway Park
Sam Jackson Parkway and Terwilliger Road, Portland, OR, 97201
The Lilac Garden, part of Duniway Park, was established in 1935 when the Lilac collection of B.O. Case was purchased by a member of The Portland Garden Club and donated to the city. There were originally approximately 225 lilacs in the garden. In 2013 the members of the PGC, in partnership with Portland Parks & Recreation, began working in the garden. Under-plantings were added for seasonal color, the remaining lilacs were identified and pruned and continual maintenance began. The Lilacs bloom in early spring through late June and add beauty and fragrance to a beautiful corner of Duniway Park.
