The Lord and Schryver Conservancy manages the historic gardens designed by Elizabeth Lord and Edith Schryver, well-known landscape architects who designed over 200 gardens in the PNW from 1929-1969. Salem-located gardens include Gaiety Hollow - their home, private garden and studio - as well as the historic gardens at Deepwood, a neighboring City Park.

How Many Acres: Gaiety Hollow - .5 acres
Must See Highlights: Seasonal flower displays; West Allee planted with Rhododendrons, Lilacs and Azaleas.
Admission Details: FREE self-guided tours on select Sundays from 1-4pm. The 2020 garden is planted around seasonal flowering themes: Delphiniums: June 14 & 21, Pollinators: July 12 & 26; August 9 & 23, Zinnias: September 6 & 20.

Volunteer Opportunities: Lord and Schryver Conservancy volunteers garden at Deepwood each Thursday from 9-12 noon and at Gaiety Hollow each Friday from 9-12 noon – under the supervision of our trained garden manager.
