The Charles Jordan Legacy Circle
As part of our 15th Anniversary in 2016, the Portland Parks Foundation renamed its Legacy Circle in honor of Charles Jordan, who served Portland as both Parks Commissioner and Director of the Bureau of Parks & Recreation in the course of his career. The Charles Jordan Legacy Circle comprises donors who share Charles’ vision for excellent parks and support the Foundation’s work with a gift of $1,000 or more annually.
Circle members will:
• Receive special campaign communications
• Be invited to events with parks leaders and creative thinkers
• Help PPF annually recognize those who positively impact the lives of Portlanders through parks and recreation.
Membership qualifies you to select one of our limited-edition 20th Anniversary Parks Posters, designed by leading Portland designers and silkscreened by the world-renowned Mullowney Printing Company, Portland/San Francisco
Charles Jordan
The late Charles Jordan is recognized nationally as a public parks visionary and a lead architect of the contemporary Portland public parks system. In his roles as Parks Commissioner (1974-1982) and Director of the Bureau of Parks & Recreation (1989-2003), he created more than 40 parks.
In 2001, Charles Jordan oversaw the planning process to create Portland’s 2020 Vision for Parks. From that vision was born the Portland Parks Foundation, along with our mission to mobilize financial and public support for an excellent and accessible park system.
Charles Jordan’s legacy of leadership in Portland placed public parks at the center of our city’s identity and future development.
