The Portland Parks Foundation will bring Portland’s parks communities together on October 20, 2022 for our annual Fall Friends & Allies Summit. Come network, learn from each other, and dive deeper together into creating more equitable access to nature, play, health, and places of connection. From the inspiring keynote presentation to hands-on workshops, our fall summit will be grounded in empathy and cultural understanding with the goal of breaking down funding barriers.
You can also join us for Day of Service opportunities on October 14 & 15 at Whitaker Ponds and Leach Botanical Gardens (more info below).
The Summit is free and open to the public.

Relational Worldview: Indigenous Theory and Application by Dr. Terry Cross on how the Indigenous relational world view can broaden and deepen the work of parks and outdoor organizations. Dr. Cross is a citizen of the Seneca Nation and founder of the National Indian Child Welfare Association.

We're offering two Day of Service events on Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15 that combine education, volunteerism and fun! These are great opportunities to network, learn and provide much-needed help side by side with community members dedicated to our parks system.

Covid-19 Policies:
In accordance with McMenamins’ policies, Multnomah County, Oregon State, and CDC guidelines, people are not required to wear a mask at the Summit with the exception of one of the workshops (see below). However, in order to honor the variety of human experiences and to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable, we encourage mask wearing, social distancing and being respectful of boundaries around physical contact/touch. If you have symptoms of Covid, please consult with your doctor before venturing out. For more information about The Kennedy School’s Covid policies, please go here.
Accessibility:
The Kennedy School provides an ADA entrance from the parking lot and has 5 ADA parking spaces in front of that parking lot entrance. All of their public bathrooms include ADA stalls and all of the public spaces are wheel-chair accessible. Please see the attached map for additional information about the ADA entrance.
The Portland Parks Foundation provides live closed captioning and ASL interpretation upon request. Please contact Jessica Green to request these services.
Transportation & Parking:
A parking lot at the Kennedy School (5736 NE 33rd Ave, Portland, OR 97211), located off of NE Jessup Street, is available for free on a first come first serve basis. Street parking is also available. Bike racks and four racks for the orange Biketown bikes are available in the front of the building. For public transportation take the 70 or 72 to the nearest stop.
