Friends and Allies Summit

Day of Service: October 22 and 23

Join in! On Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23, for a Day of Service. Summit participants can meet in person for small-group volunteer events in parks, community gardens, and natural areas. During registration, you can sign up to volunteer at any of the locations listed below.

Prior to October 22, you'll get an email with with all the necessary details including exact meeting location, current safety protocols, name and contact information of the onsite coordinator and the list of the other Friends & Allies you'll get to meet and, with them, improve a park!

 Friday, October 22: Day of Service

Woodlaw Park Nature Patch (map): 9am - 12pm

PP&R's Ecologically Sustainable Landscapes Initiative adds nature patches to park landscapes that provide natural experiences for people and habitat for wildlife. Nature patches are natural gardens that support native pollinators and offer opportunities for exploration. Volunteers at this site will help restore Woodlawn Park with native landscaping by removing ivy to prepare the planting areas. 

Saturday, October 23: Day of Service

Columbia Children’s Arboretum (map): 9am-12pm

Come volunteer at a hidden gem – the Columbia Children’s Arboretum! We will be working in the natural area portions of the park to remove invasively growing plants, and mulching along the soft surface trails

Powell Butte Nature Park (map): 10am – 1pm
Powell Butte is an extinct cinder cone volcano. The park comprises 611 acres of meadowland and forest. Today, miles of trails accommodate hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Volunteers will spend the morning doing trail work which includes clearing existing trails and pruning along the way - and enjoying the beautiful views!). Max number: 12 people
